How do I protect my pc against hacking?

• Where I live, there is a line of mobile homes and one of them is rented to a not very nice people. I heard through the landlord that the people in the trailer wanted the landlords SS# so's that they could get help paying their rent. Plus the people in the trailer borrowed the landlords pc and I don't know if they have connected into my pc. So I'm asking how can I protect my pc form these not so nice people? And how would I know if they have hacked mine? I'm sure not going to pay for their bill and mine too. Plus lose anything that I've put on my pc.

If you aren't using that then you wouldn't have to worry about them stealing your internet. 1) Now, to keep your computer the safest you will want to download the following free virus protection that Google supports called Immunet. http://www.immunet.com/free/index.html Just click "Get Immunet Free" and install it. This is a cloud based program so you won't have to update it physically yourself. 2) Download Malwarebytes Antimalware program at http://www.malwarebytes.org/ This is something that you should try to run once a week or 2 weeks to make sure you didn't accidentally pick up a Trojan or other spyware. 3) If you are truly fearful of your computer getting "hacked", then you can also download "Avast Antivirus" which is also supported by Google. http://www.avast.com/en-us/index Conclusion: I have all of the above. I only run Malwarebytes when I truly feel that my computer is infected. Avast! and Immunet run in the background at all times. I have not been infected by any viruses so far because I try to not go to websites that I am unsure about. Also, you should try to keep all your computer software updated because this is the surest way to prevent virus attacks.
