  • Job is pressuring my dad to quit job? What can he do? Legally. Theoretically.? So due to this whole economic crisis and what not, business around the nation are cutting back in employees and stuff. I am latino, 1st gen, and my father, us citizen, is an immigrant over here from Mexico. He's been a waiter for a very long time, decades, and that's all hes been doing to support a family of six. Unfortunately he doesn't have an education and I my self am currently attending college at Cal Poly. So theoretically, we were conversing and told me, what if he were to loose his job. That what if, they were pressuring him to quit his job by making him work long hours, start early workdays, works for weeks on end with out days off etc. He said, theoretically, that they have been firing people left and right, people that have been working there for 5+ years and that he feels that they might fire him soon. Evidently he is great at what he does, and that's why they haven't fired him yet, because they cant really find a reason why, but he "feels" like they desperately are. BTW, per say, he is working at a very reputable hotel and resort that ends with the double "tt" here in LA. So he is desperate to keep his job because he has a family of 6 to maintain. He doesn't know much, as in legal terms, lawyers, and government options. Basically what can someone do if a job is deliberately trying to fire someone, some of the things are work harassment, long hours, heavier than usual workload and emotional pressure and duress by not knowing if they are going to fire him now, or in 3 weeks. What are some options here? Thanks.

Welcome to America. Where does he work? If he does not want his job I know allot of Americans that would love to have the job. Tell him to suck it up and be thankful that he has a job. Can he put you through school when he is not working? Not that I am trying to be a d*%^ but... I also am not saying that it is right to be treated differently, but really you and your dad want to take someone to court when he is is not legal himself. if he wants to go back then make a fuss, if not then let it go. That is not a very smart question to ask. What would you expect to happen when the government found out your dad was not allowed to live here? You would just get him fired, and deported. Here is the bad part of my answer. There are way too many of you out there who will think I am being rude, or racist, but in fact I am telling you the truth. I am asking real questions, not sugar coated ones. Last time I checked the court system is a yes or no system nothing in between. Unless your rich. Good luck with your problem.

thers not much he can do. The only thing he can do is look for a job on his lil bit of off time that he has if that the way he want to go. I know it sounds like they are pushing him to quite or to fire him. Could it be that that place of business had to let those people go and since they fired them really need him. Some times company have to let people go and make the employes work more then thewy are used to until they can find a way to make it easy on every one One thing is he work around all those well in dow people. If it he knows any of them or a bunch of them he might ask them where could he get a job like the one he has and tell them what his bosses or doing who knows they might boycott if there behind him but dont do it unless certain for sure they or behind him. he can do more damage if they arent
