Is this a good PC system?

What is a good PC for a security system?

  • I'm wanting to install a home surveillance system that records to a PC that I can also perform other tasks on. I'm not going to use it as my primary computer since I already have one, but I want one that would still allow me to watch real time footage and delete old stuff to save room on my Hard Drive. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should go about doing this?

  • Answer:

Instead of PC, you can use a standalone "black-box" Network Video Recorder, which has got all "intelligence" in-built inside together with HDDs. And all you will need to access it is any internet web-browser. As far as as those standalone NVRs are usually based on Linux, there is no risk that the system will freeze or restart (just like Win does from time to time). My recommendation is NVR IPCorder: http://www.ipcorder.com/en/showroom
