How do I eliminate an email address?

My email address book has been hacked....how can I eliminate hackers who are using my addressbook to advertise?

  • Everyone in my addressbook has been getting emails which appear to be from me but are an advertisement from Canadian Neighbor Pharmacy which I have never had any contact with. Several of the links that come up when they open the email are http//hawkeyeharvest.org/packages/mail monkey/doprmf.html, http://ctvkano.com/images/stories/dergeer.html, http://colbyframeco.com/art/omato/thumbs/yudkgn.html and other links which when entered all get a page from Canadian Neighbor Pharmacy selling Viagra, Cialis and other drugs. I am annoyed that it appears that I have provided these names from my address which I did not. One of the links selling the same drugs seems to have come from a company called Canadian Health and Care Mall. I can give you additional links but I would like to resolve this problem today if possible.

    change the password. and the problem will stop. this also happens if someone on your address book has an infected computer that is without any antivirus or firewall. its known as bot net attack. Once the malware attacks the unprotected computer of someone on your addressbook, then it will also reach inboxes of all people associated with that addressbook. One of your friend is a poor person who does not even use AV. I don't keep such friends. This happened to me once and I got to know which of my friend's computer was infected. After that I dumped the friend and cut all ties. I even blocked him on cell phone. He can't be a friend if he is the cause of hacking or computer damage.

hi. this happened to me, and the bad news is that there is NO way around this, despite what the answers so far are saying. they are not using your email account, just your email address + your address book of email addresses. they did this to me, but i had had my OWN email address in my address book, so i got one too, so i checked the full headers, and it was apparently coming from outside the country! there is no way to stop it, other than to get a new email address, and have your friends block the old one. also, be sure you use a strong password (letters numbers AND symbols) and make your password hint hard to guess (something that only YOU would know, and not relatives or close friends). a cautionary tale for us all. sorry!
