What is safe mode?

My safe mode is telling me there is an error, what should I do?

  • A new computer question in regards to my one about having a virus. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am34wL1EHiX.qyPeuioMhsHsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091210014753AAbUV6I) One of the best answers that appeared on there without telling me to load another virus scan was to restart my computer on safe mode and delete the virus that way. The problem I had when I did this was that once I pressed enter on safe mode, a blue screen came up that said "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." It then said to do a virus scan on regular mode which I have a bunch of times. The "technical info" it gave was "0x0000007B, 0xF78A6524, 0x00000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000" Not sure if that helps anyone out there but if anyone could help that would be awesome. I feel like I keep going in circles with this! Thank you!

    0x0000007B indicates an inaccessible boot device. Your hard drive is corrupted - you will have to reinstall Windows.
