How to top up PayPal account?

How did someone hack into my PayPal account? They updated my new debit card onto the account too?

  • Hi... So i'm a student at University, I have lost my debit card a couple of times, but the card has always been cancelled and a new one ordered. So last week, i ordered a new card... I received the card, but never received the pin. ODD? So i went back to the bank today, to order a new pin... Then later on i got home, checked my emails- £1204 had been taken from my PayPal account!!! One of the payments has the delivery address, but surely they wouldn't be so stupid to attach it!? Anyway the most baffling thing is, I hadn't updated my new card onto the account. So, somehow. She has got hold of my PayPal password, AND my new debit card details, which I have and updated them onto the account. So normally, when you update a card on paypal, it sends you an email notification. But, it didn't!!? Anyway, it's odd because how i found out about the freud, was the receipt of payment that did come through from paypal. So, any idea how the heck this happened!!!!!!?????????????? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Anything to do with being at the bank today? Or the debit cards i had lost previous, but how would they know my paypal password... Thank you

There's various ways they could've got your account password. If you use a easy password like say "password" for example. If you happen to have gone through a fake site like you get phising/scam emails trying to get your bank or paypal details it another possible way they might have got it or if your using a computer that isn't yours they could have program to remember passwords entered.

yea, you need to call paypal immediately, but unfortunately from my experiance it is very complicated, and contact your bank and request a change of information, also you may have to file a police report to be eligable for protection from fraud from the bank/paypal.

Trust NOBODY with your account details, cancel ALL cards and order new ones and then make an appointment with your bank to discuss security breach implications. If the transaction with the delivery address is NOT your home or card registration address, take all of the details to the police and report it immediately!

There are hackers that can really trace one's password. I advice that a PayPal member should regularly change his/her password so that it'll be safe.

How it has come about I have no clue but I do wish banks would send the card from different postal sites and in plain envelopes without any names on them also when they send out the password envelopes they should also be blank and from a different address so that there are no links in the chain that can trip a flag in someones mind and remind them that a similar posting was recently made from a likely bank. As for passwords I prefere to use an acronym made up from the first letters of my favourite song with the singers name as a prompt. I.e Mary Had A Little Lamb It's Feet As White As Snow And Everywhere That Mary Went The Lamb Was Sure To Go. MHALLIFAWASAETMWTLWSTG. Please note this is only a sample do not use it because thousands of fools will...pick your own song and singer and keep stum.
