"you have 7 windows errors" popup - help?
-
Sometimes when I go on websites, I get a popup-like thing at the top of my screen. It isn't a 'real' popup that actually opens a new window or tab, but it 'attaches' to my little search bar at the top. It says : You have 7 windows errors! Make your PC run faster! There's an "X" button at the top, but if I click on it, it only brings me to a website (I'm not sure what website, I've always exited before it gets time to load). There's also an "OK" button below the "Make your PC run faster" bit, but I've never clicked it before. The only way I know of to get rid of the popup is to refresh my page - but I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem or any ideas to get rid of it! Thank you for any help/advice! :D

Those are applets used to infect your PC with malware like spyware or a virus. They are called "Fake Alerts". It could say "Install this antivirus to prevent an infection",,,, in other words, the infection IS the alert. Whenever you cannot close any alert or pop-up with the "x", try pressing the key "Alt" in your keyboard and at the same time press the "Delete" key once and let go... use the Task Manager to stop the execution of the app. If not, do the same but this time press "Delete" twice(with ALT pressed). If nothing works, turn off the PC, but remember, NEVER OPEN ANYTHING THAT YOU DIDN'T ASK FOR !!!!!! Also, check your PC for viruses and spyware, you could be already infected. Try a free antivirus with spyware protection, like AVG. http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage
