What do registry cleaners actually do?

What are some actual effective good Registry Cleaners/Anti- Virus programs?

  • They dont have to be free. I need something that will actually get the job done. Because my computer is pretty effed up and it has a bunch of registry errors in it that cause it to crash alot. If you could , please, recomend me a program that you have had experience with and is safe to use. Price Range - 20-35 dollars

    I've used CCLean as well as Wise Disk Cleaner and Wise Registry Cleaner... Some regard Registry cleaners as dubious products, but as a db guy I always my databases clean of useless data, and the Registry is just a database in which Windows stores information. These are free but still good, go to--Filehippo.com. Ccleaner is good for the registry and to get rid of temporary internet files. I use it once a day as it takes only 10 seconds to run it. Avast is the best anti-virus I have ever found, also free. When using Ccleaner run cleaner then click on registry and run that then click on-fix all items.
