How To Find IP Location?

How do I find someones (specific) location using their IP address?

  • Ok, someone has spamd my blog on my business website and posted bad things about myself and my business (which all where untrue). And because of this I have deleted my blog temporaroly. But I do have there IP Address. So I am wondering if there is ANY WAY AT ALL I can use this information I have to find their location. I have a strong feeling of who it is, but I need to make sure it is him for sure before I confront him... So please, any advice at all will be greatly appreciated! Thank you... (btw, my business site is www.ronanwebdesign.com)

  • Answer:

Only thing you can do is figure who their isp(internet service provider) is and then get a court order so that the isp can assit you. there are ways of finding their isp with the ip.

this sounds extremely sketchy... i don't think you can find the EXACT location though (or at least i would hope that information is protected by the ISP)

This might help a bit but doesn't exactly answer your question. You can at least find the ISP they belong to: PS You can start at step 4. Also try http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and enter their IP address. Good luck!

If you have IP addresses then go to IP address tracing website like: http://www.ipaddresslocation.org http://www.find-ip-address.org and you will be able to retrieve a lot information's about owner including location.

http://www.ip2location.com/free.asp Use that to get their location(city, ISP, etc) You cannot get an exact address or location from an IP address somehow getting it from their ISP, about the closest you can get is what city they live in.

yep just run a WHOIS on the ip.. and it will tell you all you can get thats free to the public on that IP. Run a WHOIS at this site.. http://cqcounter.com/whois/ Hope this help you =D

no

Without a court order, the ISP won't release the "owner of record" for any given IP. You may have different source of this situation: SQL how it works (From: Last Watchdog; http://lastwatchdog.com/faq-sql-injection-attacks/#more-1020 "SQL refers to the layer of databases underlying most websites. SQL attacks involves an unauthorized party injecting coding into one of these databases — coding that should not be there. An intruder can can do this by typing coding into the browser URL address line, or into any box of any webform, such as those found on account logon pages or shopping carts. '...Microsoft SQL databases would accept javascript, the shorthand coding that enables cool website features..." This would include defacing your site and/or making their own posts...unlimited things really.
