The best encryption is WPA, but if you can't use WPA, then use WEP. Change your network name. All Wi-Fi networks have a network name or SSID. These names are usually set as a default which hackers can find. Change the network name to something only you know about and then save the changes. Limit access to the network. Every computer has a MAC or physical address. This address identifies your computer from all other computers. A router will identify this address if any computers try to access the router. If you want to allow this computer to connect to your router, configure the MAC address of that computer.
