this is the best rated and featured antivirus Bit Defender Antivirus.....according to the source.
After many years of using free A/V and anti malware I some months ago installed a Norton trial Internet security 2011on my daughters and granddaughters computers.I always felt Norton was a huge resource hog but the latest version was vastly improved. So much so that after three months I have installed it on my computer which seems considerably more responsive. My choice now until something better comes along.
Norton or mcafee.
norton is probably the best anti virus out there
Avast or Avg (for cheap and best ) bitdefender or esetnod32 (for premium performance)
If you have a legit Windows on your computer, get Microsoft Security Essentials... it's free, and it can offer you the best protection, because it's done by the company that also made your platform, case in which it knows exactly what to do in every case... and if you have malware problems, you also have MRT (malicious software removal tool), and trust me, you need nothing more than those two programs.
Why buy what you can get for free legally. I personally like to use avg and spybot. I've also tried malware antivirus and panda cloud. All are free. If you see yourself as a bit tech savvy hijack this is a must have.
When it comes to Anti-virus software you must question why companies are giving away software for free. I have removed virus' from hundreds of computers that had Free AV installed. It could be said that you get more problems with Free AV than no AV. A provider of free AV wants to convert you into a paying customer later on so expect problems. Nearly all AV software will slow down your computer and this is bad especially when your computer may not be over powerful anyway. Panda anti-virus have developed protection called "Panda Cloud office protection", you only install a very small piece of software on your computer which does not slow it in any way. The software on your computer keeps you absolutely up-to-date with the latest threat protection by communicating with Panda's database of virus' out there. I have been using this system since it was launched and have not seen a single virus slip through the net. The only negative is that you have to purchase it but when you consider the cost of damage that a virus can do it really is worth paying for. The company that I work for carries out a lot of research into Anti-Virus and security and I would be happy to help in any way that I can so please ask if you would like more information.
