I agree with James. I think you should do some research on the matter tonight before getting it. It's primarily a religious based markings. You say you want it to be sexy, but I would watch where and what you are putting. With all the issues in the world, it's not a good idea to go around with something many would find offensive. Make sure you know what you're getting (as in, research the history and actually learn about it) before you get it.

Henna markings are heavily based in the texts and rituals of a number of religions. If you are considering showing your tattoo off in a sexy way, you may want to consider that a significant number of people may find it tasteless and offensive to see certain types of markings on a woman who is dressed or is acting in a sexually provocative manner. Madonna got into some hot water over this a few years ago. For some, the distinctive color alone is enough to raise an eyebrow. Please use judgment and discretion when selecting and displaying your henna tattoo. BTW: I am imagining you with a really hot henna tattoo right now, just so you know. I only wanted to warn you about the above in case it matters to you.

Not that I disagree with the above answers, I'm not a fan of cultural misappropriation, you have to remember that while certain subjects, styles, or designs may be relative to a culture or religion or social group, henna itself - the plant and the dye - are not. Henna is really damn old. Old enough that it may be the oldest cosmetic that we still use. So just because one culture uses henna in a way that is sacred to them, that doesn't proscribe using henna dye in any way you see fit. In some places henna is only for certain people or certain events, but those events vary widely and may contradict each other. Most people think Indian Hindu weddings or traditional Muslim designs when they think henna, but there's Jewish sects that have henna traditions for holidays and events, ancient Egyptians that used it cosmetically, and in Iran they used to henna horses for battle. So just because one culture may not approve of your use of henna, that doesn't mean your use isn't valid. It's been cultivated in so many countries for so many centuries, and no one is really sure where it was first harvested. It is just a red dye with no inherent meaning, and how you use it is determined by your culture and personal preference. So as long as you aren't raping someone's cultural images, then using henna is fine. Oh, and you can get anything you can think of. So think of something, or ask the artist for a recommendation. They'll often lower the price when they have some free reign in design choice.
