How do you get nail polish out of carpet?

How do I get nail polish out of my carpet?

  • I accidentally spilled dark purple nail polish on my carpet which is green. I don't think it looks bad but my mom told me that I have to clean it or she is gonna take away the rest of my nail polish. lol. Anyway, how do I get it out??

  • Answer:

I wouldn't try using nail polish remover. It might melt your carpet fibers. I've spilled nail polish remover on the kitchen table and it's taken up the finish on some spots. I searched the internet and found that this worked for a lot of people. Test it in a small area that won't be seen (in the closet, under a piece of furniture, in the corner, etc) before you try it on the stain to be sure that you don't ruin the carpet. If it's a small room, open the window and have a fan going to keep the fumes down. Use a lot of water, keep the stain wet! Use about 15-20 squirts of hair spray and 3-5 splashes of rubbing alcohol. Scrub gently with a small scrub brush. Blot with paper towels. Repeat as necessary. Don't forget to keep pouring water during the process.
