How can I Track down a letter I sent two 7 weeks ago?

The letter contained a pocket mirror case, with a gold Eiffel Tower on it. Wrapped in a protective piece of card. I posted it on Saturday April 2nd, this year. The recipient informs me that she has not yet received it. I have contacted the Post office to no avail. Could it have got jammed in the machinery at one of the sorting offices
