What do i have to do to become a make up artist?

  • Like if i wanted to work from home, or get a job at mac what would i have to do? I wouldn't want to waste my time at cosmetology school because 1.) that's mostly hair & nails which i have zero interest in and 2.) you get about 100 hours of make up lessons, not taught by a professional make up artist i would like to say i'm amazing at make up, years of watching youtube tutorials and practicing on friends and family have really paid off. I even did make up for my friend who won a huge incredible contest from it. I'm good, i have the skills, i just dont know what to do. I know mac wont hire me without school, but theres no school around me that teaches make up....

    Places like that (Mac) want to know that you have some kind of experience or a way to prove yourself. If you don't want to do schooling create a portfolio of pictures of different looks on your friends or whoever. If you do it right this will definitely up your chances. My friend works at Mac (I worked at sephora) and she had no experiences but she made a portfolio and got hired and is moving up in positions.

make up is every hard to get into at frist its not easy its harder then hair now and days to be a make up artist you need to go to a skin care school they do the 100 make up clases look up skina care schools near you for make up to work at mac you have to have 2 or 3 years of retail meaning working at sephora or ulta before mac you have to have a make up port fiolo witch means you need to find people around and do different looks on them and take a pictue in high defantion so they can see your make up skills. those make up ladys worked at other places frist before they went mac. mac is every picky on who they higher so you have to work every hard and to do free lace *** well is get yourself out there make bissness cards you need a make up train case with tons of make up to do weddings proms and free lace. make up is medium weage you cant live off make up unless your in the mac make up bissness becuase they make the most money you have to work every every hard keep your eye on the prize when it comes to being a make up artist.

Stop dreaming and learn hard labour like construction

What you should do is start making a makeup portfolio and showing it to EVERYONE ! if someone sees your makeup and likes it, theyll hire you. You could also start your own home business doing makeup. My friends mom has her own hair salon in her basment ! First you can aply at a makeup salon and then you could try to get a job from Mac again ! You may also want to try sell mark and Avon, things like that just so you have the experience ? I don't know but you'll find a way to follow your dreams ! Goodluck ! < 3 xoxo

I'm pretty sure Mac or sephora would want you to know a little more about cosmetic than just putting it in. I meanest a little course about cosmetics doesn't hurt. It'll be worth it if you really want to impress them
