How often can I use a semi-permanent hair dye?

What is the best hair dye to use if i want to COVER my hair?

• i naturually have red hair but dye it dark brown. the thing is i want it meduim brown but i cant because medium brown isnt dark enough to cover my red hair. but with brown i have to leave it in longer cuz if i dont leave it in long enuf it wont take cuz my hair is red and hard to cover but if i leave it in too long it comes out jet black :/ are there any hair dye products specifically made for dying naturally red hair cuz my roots always show. kind of like they make gray hair coverage dye, well in my case i need red hair coverage dye. please let me know what product it is what colors it comes in and where i can get it for what price. much appreciated
