Why does my hair color keep fading?
-
Last summer I had black hair and i bleached it because i wanted to put weird colors in it, such as purple, blue, pink. (I know it was a dumb thing to do) I use to have really healthy thick hair. I bleached my hair twice because the first time it didnt get all the black, after I bleached it the second time it still didnt get the black out. I still went with my crazy colors and after about the 5th time of putting a color in, I started to miss my black hair. I went to buy black box dye and i used it, it had a blue tint to it (the color wasnt sappose to have a blue tint it was Jet Black) and within a week it faded to a grey. I got mad and went back to purple hair, Then i tried going back to black when the purple was faded out. Now on Feburary 19th i went to get my hair profecinally done, I went to black and now my hair is fading again!!!!! its fading to a golden brown/greenish. Is the problem because i straitened my after i got it done? ive been told that I shouldnt straiten my hair after i get it done. (obviously i know nothing about hair) I really need some help because im to the point where i wanna shave my head.

Answer:
It is because you bleached it. Try to dye it jet black again and make sure to use a permanent hair dye, even if you do use a permanent dye make sure you buy some shampoo that is for color treated hair. Use that because it helps the color not run as much. I hope I helped (:

Yes, that is the first thing I was going to say: you obviously know nothing about hair! You have made a real mess of it! Oh, where to start!! You did a bad thing when you "dyed" your hair black. (btw, no one uses fabric dye on hair; you need a proper hair colour. Different thing) Black is notorious for NOT coming out. It is made differently, and it contains dangerous metals which give it the deep black shade, but attach so firmly to hair that they do not ever come out. That is why you never were able to remove it. You did another bad thing by bleaching trying to remove the "dye". You can't do that. You should know that!! (if you knew anything at all) You always always use a colour remover to remove hair colours -- never a bleach! How many times have I told you that?? But anyways... So now you have totally blown your hair. You have damaged it beyond repair now. There was NO need to do that, but you did it anyway. You should have had it removed professionally when you don't know what you are doing! Whatever -- You simply cannot put colour after colour and thinking nothing is going on with the hair. Of course Jet Black contains blue... it says so right on the box! .. and that is what you should expect to get. Were you even thinking? And when it fades, as it will, you will get the base colour showing through. Because of all the damage done to the hair, there is no where for colour molecules to attach themselves to, and so you will get fading quickly. You are probably shampooing too often, with the wrong shampoo, which leeches out colour particles, and there is nothing holding the colour in. Straightening (the intense heat) is not a good thing either, especially if you were putting on some oil or wax (conditioner or protectant). That is a bad combination for colour. So it seems you were doing all the wrong things and expecting different results! If only you were to think for a bit, you would realize that it was YOU that was causing all the problems, not the products. When you use anything correctly, it always ALWAYS works as it should. But use them incorrectly, you never know what will happen. What to do now? Yes, shaving is about the best thing to do. You can use some cosmetic colours to help cover up the damage, and just be kinder to your hair, while you wait for it to grow out so you can cut off all this damage. Yes, the only solution is to remove all the bleached and damaged parts of the hair. That may be rather short, so try to wait as long as you can. Summer is coming soon, so it may be a good time to try out a short cut and style. In the future, when trying out something different, please do it correctly or not at all. Of course, everyone knows enough to have a consultation [no charge at most salons] with a qualified professional hair colourist who will be able to do a proper analysis of your hair, and tell you what needs to be done to get the shade you are looking for BEFORE you do anything. They can also tell you how to look after your hair after treatments to make the colours last longer. And they will tell you how to get rid of a colour when you change your mind. You are going about this all backwards, and you got what you earned. If it didn't work for you, then don't do it again! Just get it done professionally, and it will all be better.
because you bleached it
