How do i make my hair like katy perry/40's style like Wavy not like curl , WAVES thick!?

thats hard i have no idea i wanted that before and no1 knew how best bet is going to the hairstylist and gettin them to put it up

I know you say no curling irons...but my guess would be those thicker curling irons. Try combing your hair with your fingers to pull some of the curls out and create waves. Putting loads of plats in your hair after a bath/shower then leaving them on over night can help for some...not all though. Try curl shampoos and conditioners too. If you can manage to get curls then you can easily get waves by combing the curls out with your fingers or those special curl combs you can get really cheaply. Hope this helped.
