How can I keep my hair color lasting longer?

Just dyed my hair, how to keep the color?

  • I just recently dyed my hair from dark brown to dark dark brown with a red tint that looks kinda of maroonish in the sun. I'm already using a color revitalizing conditioner twice every week to keep the color, but do you know of any other ways I could keep the color looking like it did the first few days? Thanks!

  • Answer:

Color safe shampoo and conditioner, look for one that is sulphate free, regular shampoo can and will pull the color from your hair making it fade quicker

they make shampoos and conditioners to keep dyed hair looking like new, but color does fade so you may have to re-dye it every so often when you think the color is fading.

they have shampoos and conditioners that keep the color for color treated hair http://xe6.xanga.com/946f232036033242363137/z191948852.jpg

well if you have a tint of red you should use ketchup after you wash your hair it works great ive been using it and it makes my hair nice and shiny

DO NOT BLEACH IT! That will turn it blonde. Just switch your normal everyday shampoo and conditioner for John Fridda [can be found at Ulta] for Brunettes.

Like everyone else said, use a special shampoo for colored hair. Also, John Frieda [I'm sure other brands have it to, but I don't know of any lol] has something called a color glaze, which you leave on your hair for like 3 minutes and it makes the color a little more vibrant. And don't wash it every day, just do it every other day [unless your hair is super dirty... but nobody will even notice if you skip a day :-P]

Follow the three steps below, your dyed hair will keep shinning and bright 01 Use color enhancing shampoo. There are several great products on the market designed to help you maintain your hair color. At the very least you should be using a shampoo and conditioner designed for color-treated hair. Drugstore brands like Tresseme and L’Oreal carry these special shampoos. You can also find them in the salon lines Paul Mitchell and Redken. 02 Stay out of the sun and pool. Both the rays of the sun and chlorine can bleach your hair, which means the color will fade faster. Wear a hat at the beach and a swimming cap when you’re in the pool. Add a chlorine filter to your shower to keep the chemical away from your colored hair. 03 Maintain your roots. As your hair grows, your roots will appear in their natural color. You will need to touch them up from time to time. Your stylist will no doubt be able to do this for you, but can also do your own touch-up at home. Buy an at-home hair dye kit and follow the directions for mixing and applying the color to the roots.

i dyed my hair JUST like that I had dark brown now its dark dark brown with red highlights. I havent been using any special shampoo or conditioner and it looks the same from when i first dyed it. it all depends on the dye and how often you clean it. if you see that it is fading more you can buy special shampoo and conditioner for 'color treated hair' what me and my mom use is (i think) loreal paris. the box has some light brown on it and leaves... i think. some type of natural stuff hope i helped help me? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090716180340AA2hRYY
