Does the instyler damage your hair?

Please help!! instyler curling hair!?

• k so i just got a brand new instyler about a week ago and today was the first day i really had the chance to try it out. so i did, and the straightening works great! my hair has never looked better! but then when i tried to curl my hair, it didnt really do anything. one time it even tangled my hair when i released. this is what i did: 1. i wrapped a small portion of my hair around the barrel as many times as possible. 2. i closed the instyler around my hair and held it there. but while i was holdig it down, my hair kind of like poofed out of the instyler since it was rotating. like it just kind of came out i guess. not all of my hair did but some of it. am i doing something wrong? thanks so much for any advice!!

  i tryed curling my hair with that to but , honestly it DOSENT work . it just clumps together and falls down
