Is implantation bleeding always light?

Am I experiencing implantation bleeding or am I experiencing a light period?

• I had sex approximately two weeks ago or so and my period is supposed to begin on September 2, 2009. However, I noticed bleeding around August 28. It is not pink or brown, it seems as if it's typical period blood- red and sometimes blood clots. It isn't enough to fill a pad, however, I can fill a light tampon (TMI). This has been going on four approximately four days and to my knowledge, implantation bleeding can last for a week to thirteen days. I took two pregnancy tests that can detect if you are pregnant five days before your actual period--they both came up negative. Yet, I may have low levels right now. However, I usually have medium-heavy flow and I am aware that your hormones can change depending on who you are around, as well as stress. My dilemma is if I may be having a light period and my hormones are changing, or if I am experiencing implantation bleeding. Someone please help!

  Hey Razzz, you probably know more now about your situation, but I was going to guess that it was an early period. To my knowledge and in my experience, IB is very light and for only a few days and only when you wipe, it probably shouldn't fill a tampon or leak out. Mine was accompanied by a pulling sensation in my groin and going to the toilet lots! However, I also had the experience of getting a BFN even 5 days after my IB and did not get a BFP until another week after my BFN! Sorry if it's not much help but we are all so very different. Has any more news come to light in the last few days?
