Does Nanny get a raise after 1 year?
-
Your Question Does Nanny get raise after 1 year? We have a great nanny that we pay $80 per day. We live in the midwest of the USA. This isnt cheap compared to daycare, but we do love our nanny. She is the highest paid in our sub. We have a 2.5 yr old and a baby under 1 year old. Do we give her a raise at the year mark? If so, what is a "good raise", $5 per day raise? The economy here is terrible so we cant afford much. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Answer:
Yes, you should treat her like an employee and most employers give raises after a year. $80/day is about $10/hour which is an ok but not great wage for taking care of two babies. 3-5% raise is what you should do if you want to keep her as your nanny. BUT, like my and most other employers, they are on wage freezes and sometimes even asking for a portion of salaries back!
