It sounds like you're doing everything right. As long as you're eating regularly (at least three meals a day) and you're trying to keep it healthy with fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy then I wouldn't be too concerned. You've gained roughly 16 pounds, which puts you in the range of how much doctors want you to gain. They say between 20-35 pounds by the end of the pregnancy, so you're doing good. You still have two months to go, and your baby will be gaining a lot of weight in that time (about half a pound a week starting at 32 weeks). I believe a fat umbilical cord is a good sign that your baby is getting enough blood, oxygen and nutrients, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Good luck, hon!

First of all, WIC seems to get new & expectant moms really upset over nothing.WIC will complain and fuss if you gain too much, not enough, etc. Use your common sense & eat when you are hungry and eat healthy. Eating junk isn't bad as long as that isn't all you are eating. I haven't gained ANY weight and I'm 7 months but I have been overweight. Being underweight does not make you high risk. High risk is for those who have serious medical conditions or have a medical risk which makes them likely to go into labor early. If it was something your doctor was really concerned about, they would let you know and would be watching you closely.

I have three kids - 1st time gained 12lbs, 2nd time gained 15 lbs, 3rd time gained 12.5 lbs. All of my babies were over 8 lbs and full term, so I actually lost weight each time (with placenta and extra blood volume factored in). I did have quite a bit of vomiting but I did eat quite bit and always healthfully. If your doctor is not concerned you shouldn't be either. Some of us just don't gain much weight while pregnant. However, I packed on about 20 lbs when I stopped breast feeding!

I would say that if your doc is not worried about the weight you are gaining then you shouldn't be either. As long as what you are eating is healthy then don't stress. I know women who have only gained 5lbs throughout their entire pregnancy. I gained 23 with my first, 25 with my second, I'm 31 weeks now and have only gained 13. Each woman is different, just keep eating healthy and you will be fine.

I knew a woman who actually lost weight while she was pregnant, not that she was trying to or anything it just happened. Her baby was fine, grew as she should have and was 9lb 4oz when born!!!! Im sure if you are eating well or even if your not and eat junk and your baby is growing and on track then all is well. Just think the less you put on the less you have to loose, that's if you want to after. Your doctor/midwife would soon have you in and test would be done if they thought there was any complications good luck hope all goes well

As long as you are eating and the baby is growing there is no concern. They should be doing a scan to make sure that baby is growing though. You have gained 12 lbs so that is pretty good. I only gained 20 lbs and I'm a good bit bigger than you. You still have a long ways to go and plenty of time to gain weight. Your weight gain really sounds fine to me. If you weren't gaining anything I would be a bit concerned, but 12 lbs is good for 7 months.

If your doctor isn't concerned then you shouldn't be either. You are just going to stress yourself out and that is bad for the baby. Just keep going the way you have been. Some people just don't really gain weight during pregnancy and I would say you are lucky.

It sounds to me like you are getting on the right track- They say that you should expect to gain a pound a week in the second and third trimester. You started out slow but the past 2 months have been on target, Just make sure you are taking your vitamins and getting 2300 calories a day. You are eating healty which is great- I say you are doing fine!
