How much to charge for part time child care?

Infant Child Care Rates?

  • For those of you who either provide child care or place your child in child care, what do you charge or what are you charged? We are investigating part-time care so that I can return part time to work (husband's company cut his hours -- ouch), but we have no idea what to expect in terms of rates and what I need to make at work to make it worth my returning to work. Help?

  • Answer:

I pay $122 a week for full time care, but my care was discounted because I work on a military installation. I know that non-military members pay $224 a week. Make sure you check into your local child care works, you may be eligible for discounts or you may find a home based center that is less expensive. Good Luck!

Expect to pay a lot. My toddler goes to a great center, and the program is discounted through cigarette tax (awesome!) from the state. I pay $330. a month for as many hours a month as I need. I know people with toddlers that pay double that. I would say for an infant, expect to pay at least $100 a week. The problem you may run into is that you have to pay the "Full time" charge, even if you have your child there part time. You have to pay to ensure that your childs place will be held.
