How can i win full custody of my child in california?

• i was married and had been separated from my husband for years but not legally divorced. i met someone and had a daughter. now, we are also not together since he didn't want me to continue the pregnancy. after three months she was born, the father of my child asked to have joint custody but not give any sort of child support, which he never was in the beginning so it doesn't make sense why he would want a right over her. is it possible for me to have sole custody of my daughter? or god forbid if something bad happens to me, can my side of the family raise my daughter?

  1st you must divorce your husband. That way the courts will take you seriously as to not be confused. Trust me I know. Then set up a mediation appointment with family court to put the visitation schedule in writing. Along with the medication appointment, add/request a child support order. Ask for "primary custody", the father will receive "secondary custody. He will be ordered to pay child support, minus the time that the child is with him. EX: the child is with you Sunday evening until Friday evening & with the father on each or every other weekend, alternate holidays (etc.)
