What is implantation bleeding?

a couple weeks ago i had a night at work where i bled a little bit and thought i was going to start my period, but didnt. tiny bit of bleeding that was a brownish color and stopped. slight cramps and a felt kinda hot. but ever since then, i havent had any problems. usually leading up to my period, i get cramps and my stomach feels all gassy and such. nothing this month and my period is due in 2 days... could this maybe be my month? what is implantation bleeding exactly and how common is it. or could it be nothing?

Implantation bleeding happens approximatly a week after intercourse when the fertilised egg attaches itself to the womb lining, causing bleeding. The blood has been described as pinkish/ brownish in colour. Not everyone gets it, I think its 50 50. I also would have thought cramping and slight bleeding could be implantation. Good luck.
