How Can We Know That We Are Pregnant?

If I have irregular periods, how do I know when I can get pregnant?

• My periods have never been regular. Sometimes I can go as long as 4 months without one and sometimes I can get it 3 weeks after my last one. My problem is, if I want to get pregnant, how do I know when I can get pregnant? And is this a bad sign that I might not be able to get pregnant? My husband and I have had unprotected sex for about a year now and I haven't been pregnant once. Thanks for the help!

  i was the same way! to a T! Yes, you can still get pregnant.heres my story that may solve some of your reasons why you are not conceiving and or irregular as well. Ok, along with the similarities in our cycles since age 12 to present. At 15 i was finally put on birth control and it helped. but i never was mature about taking them correctly. so my cycle was erratic all over again. i was with my bf on and off for 6 years and never got pregnant? it was weird. i went to get my pap and for ome reason the gyno said, "hey, you know, if you were ever going to try to get pregnant one day, the ideal way to do it for you( considering about something about my uterus, its tilted)is to let my partner ejaculate inside and for 15 minutes lye upside down and to put my ankles together with legs up. My new partner( my now hubby) and I did this and i took folic acid( found in prenatal vitamins or alone.) It didnt seem to catch i thought?..since i was irregular and stop taking BC again, i figured I still, the BC hormone was in my body and that maybe i didnt wait long enough for the sperm to hit my uterus?! it was almost 8 months and nada! So... I continued with the prenatal vitamins, stayed off BC and when i had a reg period, i guessed when i could be ovulating( i usually knew when i had white discharge) and we did a sexual position that worked!! Place a pillow under your hips and lift your pelvis while intercourse. when your partner orgasms make sure your in that position.its not that uncomfortable at all and even crazy acrobat moves help...lol. like a back bend, or point your legs straight and have him hold your legs up while inside. it will help in case your issue is a tilted uterus.and it works even if yours doesnt tilt:)in my case it does, and it worked! now, after having my baby,in july..i didnt have a period until january. i didnt let it bother me bc as you know, thats the norm for us...i thought that it was also due to a c section. then at 2 years past, i started to bleed constantly..heavy periods for days and days that lasted 3 months straight. i didnt have insurance and was afraid i was going to die. i was sleepy all the time and coul focus at all. i then finally went to see a physician. It was Thyroid disease! a normal, healthy level is a 2, i was at a 15.5! I was prescribed meds and within the next 3 days the bleeding stopped. this was last sept. and october i had no period at all. i was worried. then november i had a normal period. i was so happy! My hubby and i had sex and for some reason i was put in that position with the pillow and within like 2 weeks almost dec. i felt like i was getting my period and my boobs were killing me and no period came. i went to my physician again got my thyroid levels tested bc i do that every three months and told her of my symptoms. she tested the blood along with my levels and called me back that evening and said, "your pregnant!" So hope i didnt bore you. im just letting you know that even with an out of whack thyroid and menses, i am on baby number 2! so dont fret:) it will happen when you least expect it!
