Opinions on Planned Parenthood's urine pregnancy tests? Two negative.. HPT positive?
-
I am a week late (Last period August 3rd) .. never been late before. Not on any birth control. Extremely sore breasts, white bumps on nipples, bad cramping (no blood), constipation (tmi - sorry!).... I have taken about six HPTs.. the first five were extremely faint (almost to the point where i thought i was tricking myself into thinking they were positive..) but others can could also see the faint, faint + right after each test was taken (about 4 min after).. Went to planned pregnancy and had two urine tests done -- one today and one two days ago, both negative. I feel prego.. Am I crazy? Just convincing myself? Any similar experiences?

Some home pregnancy tests can can detect the hormone before others. If you want to be 100% sure, I would get a pregnancy test by blood instead of urine.
You could still be pregnant. How long was the time period in which you took the 5 tests? Because you could be pregnant and your HCG amount could just be low. Or you could've been pregnant and had a miscarriage, but you didn't say you had any bleeding so it may have been a chemical pregnancy. A chemical pregnancy is the clinical term used for a very early miscarriage. In many cases, the positive pregnancy test was achieved before the woman’s period was due but a miscarrige occured before a heartbeat was able to be seen on an ultrasound. With the ultra sensitive pregnancy tests on the market today, it is easier than ever to get a positive result 3 or 4 days before your period is due. It is wonderful for those who NEED to know, but does have it’s down side. Early testing shows chemical pregnancies which would not have been detected had the woman waited for her period to arrive. Chemical pregnancies are unfortunately very common. 50 to 60% of first pregnancies end in miscarriage very early in pregnancy. Most occur without the woman even knowing that she was pregnant. What Causes a Chemical Pregnancy Most chemical pregnancies are due to chromosomal problems in the developing fetus. Other possible causes are inadequate uterine lining, uterine abnormalities both congenital or acquired like fibroids, low hormone levels, luteal phase defect or certain infections. This is from baby hopes.com. You might not have had a chemical pregnancy though. Take another pregnancy test, a clear blue digital or a first response and see what it says because when I found I was pregnant I used a first response and got a positive. I went to the doctor The next day give me a urine test and it was negative. So try taking another test (a home test) or go to your doctor and ask for a blood test. Please keep me informed. Good luck!
The ones at planned parenthood arent early detection tests and, if they dont see a bright positive, they generally will tell you that you arent pregnant. You sound like you are pregnant to me, just not enough hcg to make for a dark positive yet. There is a thing called hysterical pregnancy where a women developes symptoms of being pregnant when she isnt because she thinks she's pregnant, but even a faint positive, is still positive, if its positive with the window time of testing (and not like 10 min. later). I took 5 home pregnancy tests and they were positive, started spotting, went to my OB, she gave me one and said I wasnt, when I asked why because I took 5 that were, she said 'well, there was a very faint line but you almost had to squint to see it' (very unprofessional). She further told me I probably wasnt pregnant and I KNEW I was (actually knew I was and was going to miscarry as I had miscarried 3 times prior). I was 1 day away from my 8 week appt. which would have been my first OB appt. I demanded a blood test to prove I was pregnant. They gave me one. I miscarried that same night. The next day the nurse called and said 'well, you were right, you're pregnant'. And I said 'Im not any more' and she said 'are you sure' and I said 'as sure as I was that I was pregnant'. (I switched OB's) but they will generally say you arent, if its very faint. I would call your OB and schedule a blood test. Some women dont produce a lot of HCG for a while in to their pregnancy. Good luck!
If the tests are ALL negative... theeen odds are.. You are not pregnant.
