Negative pregnancy test before missed period?

Missed period, pregnancy symptoms, but negative test?

  • I have missed my period.... took a test day I missed it and it was negative. A few days later and I still don't have it. I'm bloated, and my nipples have been sore/hard for 2 weeks now. I am very gassy, irratible and extremely tired. I have been napping daily for 3 hrs! This is unlike me. Could it have been too early to test? Now I'm nervous because I would like to be pregnant but don't understand the missed period if I test negative again.

  • Answer:

Try taking one of those tests that you can take before your period is due. As some of the cheaper tests dont show that your pregnant in the first few weeks.

Beta HCG is the hormone produced by the placenta and is evident in your urine 10 days after fertilization. Levels rise rapidly in the 1st trimester (60-80days). It is this that produces the '+ or -' in a urine pregnancy test. If your date of fertilisation was closer to your expected date of next period then it is possible that the HCG levels had not increased enough to produce a 'positive' reading. Try another urine test (1st wee of day is best) or make an appointment to see your doctor and request a blood test! Hope this helps ~ good luck :)

I started getting symptoms just a few days after conception. No joke. If I hadn't been TTC I probably never would have realized what was going on, but since I was paying attention I noticed changes in my body after about 4 days!! So I don't think it is too early for you to be seeing signs. Good luck to you.

I have found some good tips in following link, It may be good for you too http://www.besttipszone.com/Pregnancy-Confirmation--and--Due-Date.php

Your sore nipples and fatigue can't be due to pregnancy because you would just be starting to get those symptoms now. Two weeks ago you would only just have conceived - too early for symptoms. But just because pregnancy isn't causing those symptoms, it doesn't mean you are not pregnant. As you say, it could just have been a little too early to test. But there is no point in testing again too soon. Wait another two weeks. If your period doesn't come, test again.
