When is too late to start a family?

  • When is too late to start a family? Do you think trying for a baby between the ages 28 to 35 is too old to wait till?? That's when my boyfriend wants to wait till....that's what he wants, I kinda want to wait too, well just till im ready and im deffinetly not ready now. but im worried i wont be able to have a baby by then because of what age I will be. My boyfriend gave me the 'out' to break up if I wasn't happy with that because he wants me to be happy, but I love him...i'm happy to wait because I know he wants children, he said so, just not till he's over 30 and had his 'fun' buying what he wants and having fun with me before we have to settle down and be responsible for a little baby. when he's 30 ill be 28 so that's a little better that im a little younger. I read this on a website and it scared me: 1.Egg quality diminishes as women age. Female fertility peaks in the early 20s, and begins to decline thereafter. The decline in quality becomes more pronounced around age 35, then declines at a faster rate beginning around 38 years of age. Thanks.

    I don't think its too late at all. yes your egg quality starts to decline, but in most cases its not even noticible until after 35. you have plenty of time.

Depends on how many kids you guys want. If you just want one or two, then you could have your first at 30 or 31ish (so start trying at 29) and your second at 33 or 34 (so start trying at 32), and be done, but if you want 3+ kids you should probably start in your mid-twinties. :)

Let's face it... right now you are the most fertile. Does that mean you can't have babies later? No. If you want 1-3 kids and you can get it done between ages 30-35, great. If you only want one, possible two, you could put it off until you're in your 30s. If you want 4, 5, or more kids, better get started soon. Fertility DOES decline after 35, so if you can complete your family by then, it's better (translation... less stressful) for you. Having kids after 35 isn't the end of the world, but if you can avoid that emotional stress (it may take longer to conceive) then why not. 28 years old is a great age to start a family, no matter how many kids you want.
