Can you ovulate twice on clomid?

I ovulate on day 14, but can I start clomid at any day during my cycle to start ovulation?

  • I'm kind of new to this so please excuse me if I sound stupid. We have my husband's healthy sperm frozen (he had chemo) and would like to try getting pregnant in about 2 months from now. I saw a fertility doctor, but forgot to ask her a question. We would like to have the IUI procedure done right after we return from a vacation, which would be day 18. Being that I ovulate naturally on day 14, if I take clomid, will I ovualte again? Or does clomid have to be taken for the 5 days before I would naturally ovulate?

    My Dr. told me to take the clomid on the 5th day ,and it may take 2 rounds of clomid before you get pregnant.

According to my doctor you need to start clomid on day 5 of your cycle. That is the 5th day from when you start flowing and not just spotting. It's a 5 day treatment so it should be taken days 5 - 9. This will not cause you to ovulate more then once, it will only force your body to ovulate.

No you cannot. you have to take it either on the 3rd or 4th day of your cycle.

you either take it days 3-7 or 5-9... 3-7 will likely give you more then one egg and 5-9 will likely give you one really good quality egg. if you do not take it correctly it will make it harder for you to get pregnant.. it's worth putting a call in to the dr. to see what she wants you to do.

clomid helps you ovulate so yes to your first question. And as far as I know when taking clomid it is important to do it on certain days of your cycle. I am on clomid and the doctor has me taking it day 5 through 9 of my cycle. You can also take it on days 3 through 7. It just depends on when the doc wants you to take it
