How long did it take you to get pregnant after getting off of birth control?

  • My boyfriend and I plan on starting to try for a baby in October. I want to know if i should get off birth control now, and use other protection for the time being... or should I wait?

  • Answer:

It depends on your age and how long you have been taking the pill. If you are over 35 and been on the pill more than two years, you might want to stop taking the pill 90 days before October and use condoms instead. That way you can regulate your periods and better predict your due date.

I went off birth control in October of 2008 and my husband and I are still trying for a baby 21 months later. Birth control tends to stay in your system for a few months after you stop.
