Negative pregnancy test before missed period?

I took a pregnancy test a week before my missed period it came out negative but now i missed my period?

  • i took a pregnancy test a week before my missed period it came out negative but now my period is 2 days late could i still be pregnant .

  • Answer:

Yes you could be pregnant. Only the really sensitive tests can detect a early pregnancy when used before your period is due and then (if you look at the small print) it is still only 50-60% reliable. As soon as you become pregnant each day the level of HCG your body produces increases therfore if you took another test now it should be more accurate. However - if you still dont get your period but the test reads negative still too - don't worry, this also can happen to some women producing lower levels of HCG, but a quick visit to the doc and possible blood test and or scan will confirm! All the best x

Yes you could very well still be pregnant. Most pregnancy tests (even when they say they can detect a pregnancy up to a week before a missed period) are not all that accurate before you miss your period. It all depends on how much hcg your body is producing and it usually doesn't start producing much before the time of your missed period. I didn't test positive with my son until I had actually missed my period so I would def take another test to be sure.

Take a blood test

Most urine pregnancy tests show faint or no result if tested before 4 weeks of a pregnancy. Your period is just two days late, so another test would in all probabilities still not show an accurate result. Sometimes, the test line is too light for one to detect, so you may feel that it is negative this happens in a very early stage of pregnancy when the "HCG" hormone is not too developed.. hence the 'line" is too blur or takes long to develop. Wait for a couple of days and do the test again, with the first urine (morning), alternatively if you are too impatient.. do a blood test to detect the HCG levels.. All the Best!

The reasn u got a negative result is probably because u tested to early.. Pregnancy test dectect a pregnancy hormone called hcg (Short name for something i cant spell lol) Sorry.. But before u get a positive u have to be producing however much hcg the pregnancy test ur taken can dectect.. Since ur period is late now i say try again in a couple days or so and if its still coming out negative and ur period hasnt shown up then call the doctor and they can set u up for a blood test.. Some pregnancy test say they can detect pregnancy sooo many days before u missed a period but i wouldnt fully trust those.. I bought so many test before i missed my period and they all came out negative.. Even after i missed my period.. I finally decided to use clearblue digital.. I got it at walmart and it came with like two or three test and they all read pregnant.. I got it for about 8 bucks.. I know thats not really cheap for pregnancy test but its well worth it.. Good luck..

Yes you could still be pregnant. It depends on when you could have conceived and what pregnancy test you took. The only pregnancy test that can accurately detect pregnancy that early is clear blue as far as I know. You're safe to take another one and most likely get an accurate answer now. Just be sure to take it in the morning for the most accurate results.
