• I've read how prenatal vitamins and supplements can lower the risks of birth defects and even lower the risk of types of cancers in a child. Is there any published information that states how a child's overall life expectancy can be increased from mothers who take prenatal vitamins before and during pregnancy? I'm looking for any statistics, such as "prenatal vitamins can increase a child's life expectancy up to 5 years, etc."... You always hear about how doing certain things can increase your life expectancy while doing other things can decrease your life expectancy. Well, is it possible that a mother can increase her child's life expectancy before the child is even born? It seems as if prenatal vitamins can lower the risks of certain conditions and can strengthen the overall health of a child....but can they increase a child's life expectancy.

  A recent study (early last year, I recall) has found that certain vitamins actually lower life expectancy. But the study didn't mention anything about 'in utero' data.
