What is the narrowest backless car booster seat available?

Does my son HAVE to use a backless booster seat?

  • My son fits the age & weight requirement for me to take the back off of his child seat and just ride in the booster seat. So that's what he's in now. Now my mom just has a child seat...where we just use the seat belts. The back doesn't come off. My question is can he stay in that or should I buy her the backless booster seat, bc they do sell them by themselves....I know he's ABLE by law to go in a backless booster, but is it REQUIRED by Illinois law that he does?

  • Answer:

it doesn't actually matter which booster seat you use it depends which one you think your child will be more comfortable and safe in.

Of course it's not required. You should, however, make sure he still _fits_ into the seat she has for him. If he's too big (wide shoulders, neck rest pushing his head forward, or just uncomfortable for him) than you should get a new seat for her.
