When did the first daycare start?

Question for moms who made their baby's food and also had them in daycare?

  • My daughter is 10 months old and I have been making her baby food using only organic fruits/veggies/meat since she was 6 months old and sending it to daycare. She is currently in a home daycare that provides food to its children. The lady that runs the daycare asked if it was ok for them to start making and feeding her food since we are technically paying for the food as part of her daycare. I kind of like knowing exactly what my daughter is eating. I especially want her to eat organic meat since i'm freaked out about the hormones the other "stuff" that non-organic meat can contain. I'm not AS paranoid about non-organic fruits/veggies. So for those of you that made your own baby food and also had your baby in daycare, did you continue to just send food everyday to daycare? Until what age? Maybe I'm just being an over-protective first-time mother here... I don't mind making her food and sending it to daycare everday but on the other hand, if I'm paying for them to provide food, should I let them? I was thinking of asking them to only feed her fruits/veggies since i don't think they provide organic meat, but I don't know if this is feasible since they are making one big batch of food for all the kids and i'm sure they wouldn't make a separate vegetarian one for her. I guess it doesn't seem realistic for me to think that my baby will eat only organic food for the rest of her life, but I was just curious to know how other mothers out there dealt with this situation. Thanks for sharing your stories.

I would stick with what you are currently doing. I have to send everything with my son too. He has allergies and I just cant risk the chance that he would ingest something he shouldnt eat. I think you are a great mom for making the food and taking the time. I thik the daycare should be flexible and maybe give you a break on the tuition? If your daughters system is used to specific food it is going to be so hard to change, and the result can be gas, loose stools, or constipation...not worth it. ): my opinon

children raised with pure organic foods will eventually get ahold of non organic food and the longer they eat pure organic the higher chance they will have an adverse reaction and the more dangerous the reaction since she is 10 mos she should be eating stuff other than just baby food she should be on finger foods easy by now EDIT: for the lady above me not allowing the baby to have regular foods now can cause much worse problems in the future than just gas, dierreah and constipation I could understand if it was an allergy but since it is not, allow the regular foods so an allergy is not developed later I'm sorry i just realized this sounds like i'm chewing you out I'm not I think it is a wonderful loving thing you are doing for your daughter but honestly it's not worth it in the long run fesabily speaking are you really going to make and send your daughter's food with her for the next 17 yrs?? use the time you would making the food to spend with your family or taking a break for yourself
