How many bowel movements should a two year old boy have?

  • My two year old has a lot of bowel movements each day. At least 3 to 4 each day. Most of the time they are green and smell really bad! I'm talking bad enough to make you gag. I'm just wondering if this is normal?

    It doesn't sound right, I would take him to the doctors. What kind of diet does he have? Is he getting his 5 food groups? My 2 year old has only one poo a day and it is a normal shaped brown one, if she has eaten a lot she sometimes has 2 poos. He doesn't sound regular at all and the colour and smell of them is also a concern, speak to your doctor and they will find out what the problem is.

1-2 a day. The color should be examined as well as whether it's a solid poop or not.

Well the number would not worry me so much as the color and the smell. He could have some digestive issues going on. I think you should take him to the doctor. As for the number all kids are different .Some only have one every other day while others will have several in one day. My son has one or two a day. Occasionally we will see 3 if he has eaten a ton but that is rare.

hmm doesnt sound normal to me, my 2 year old has 1 or 2 a day usually, they are brown and formed, smelly but i guess thats normal! Maybe your 2 year old has some digestion problem - Goodluck
