Why is one of my arms so hot?

Why does my one year old daughter not fall asleep in my arms anymore?

  • My daughter just turned a year old. She's happy and carefree, but only falls asleep in my arms during nap time. At bedtime, it's a different story. She's always been good about going to sleep. I read to her, talk to her, and sing songs. She just lays in my arms. She's not much into me loving on her. So after about ten minutes I make sure is relaxed. I then take her to her crib and lay her down. She is usually asleep within five to ten minutes with no fuss. She's actually been doing this for the past two months. Is she just becoming independent? Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal?

i would be happy. and yes she is becoming more independent. and self soothing. she is learning how to deal with mommy not always being there. when my son was three months he wants just to be laid down and nothing else but his play fishtank going. now it is a different story. he has to have his blanket and his three teady bears a good night kiss from mommy and daddy then at times he will still cry to see if we will come back in and let him get up. he is 16 months now. but each baby different and one week she can put her self to sleep and the next she might need u again mommy. like with teething or a when she is growing. well good luck.

Yes. It sounds like she's just becoming independent. My nephew was the same way.

Be thankful that she is being independent and don't question it. You will realize this is a good thing. You shouldn't baby them by " putting " them or " rocking them " to sleep, they usually depend on that for a long time and its a bad habit to break.

I know how u feel! My daughter will not even lay with me for more than a minute. I hate that she won't let me cuddle with her, but I know it is good because she is independent and doesn't need my help to fall asleep....which I have seen other parents go through, and trust me you dont want that!

Concerned Mother, Goodness, do you know how many mothers envy you for your child doing that at night. Imagine the ones who have to be rocked or walk the floor for hours and when you go to lay them down they wake up and have to do it again and again. The loving you do at night with the story telling and talking to her is replacing the being in your arms .... she is still getting you and that is what she needs right now. I think you need to be commended at your night time ritual you have made with her. So many babies would love you for their mommy. Take care and relax, enjoy this baby they grow up too fast. Why are you so upset about this? She is growing independent and you should be happy about that. It may be hard for you because you may feel like you are losing your baby but your not she is just becoming a toddler instead of a baby. Be happy that she is reaching her milestones because some other kids have a hard time at that.
