Does anyone have any play ideas?

I need Ideas for 3 year old girl who wont play with anyone.?

  • I run a daycare and I have one little girl that will not play with anyone. She wont play with the pretend baby's or anything, We do worksheets, color,games and read book but she isn't the only little kid I have some times I need to be with the other kids and she needs to play. Please give me some ideas that might help. I feel like such a bad daycare provider cause I think sometimes she is bored. But I cant give one child my whole divided attention when I have 7 more that need me.

    Bless her heart. She just doesn't want to play with the other kids, but wants your attention? I don't know if you should be concerned, but you would think she would be interested in social interaction at this point. I mean sure all kids are different and some are shyer than others, but she should like some interaction. Does she enjoy any at all? Perhaps try giving her some tasks that she could accomplish without you and reward her, like give her a puzzle? Ask her to read a book. Then, tell her what a great job she did when she is done, so that way it will encourage her to want to do it again. Good luck!

I also run a Day home in Calgary, and have a 4 year old child that is so shy and will not play with the other children either unless I plan an activity that everyone has to do,ex. Baking,art project, opening excersizes, songs ect.. I have tried many things to get her to play with the other children but no luck with me either. I explained the situation to the childs parents and her mom asked the child what she would like to play with the children and now I have a list of things to try. Sometimes it will just take time.. Have you tried asking her to "help" another kid or group of kids? Sometimes its all in the wording. If she won't play with the other kids when they are playing with legos she might "help" them instead. If she's really good at something you could also ask her to "show" another child how she does it.

Make sure you continue giving her some attention. And ask her if their is anything she would like to do. That's sad. But if you are doing what you can do, then it isn't your fault. Sometimes kids are backwards like that. Just try letting her decide on the games are or line leader or however you do things. Im sorry, do t blame yourself though.

Playing with others is learned. Take her and another child to a station and help the other child invovle her and her invovle herself wtih the other child. Then slowly step back.
