Flying with a 2-year-old?

Flying Internationally with a 2 year old?

  • Okay my son is 2 and i will be flying to Korea to live with my husband which is currently in the military and stationed out there. Since my son is 2 do i need to bring the car seat with me on the plane?? He doesn't sit still for nothing and those who have kids know what i mean lol but i just don't see how he will sit in his own seat without being in his car seat. Has anyone done this and should i?? also flight is about 18hours including layovers.

I've flown transatlantic from Seattle to Germany with my daughter 5 times between the ages of 1 and 3. You don't need to bring the carseat on the plane - actually it will probably be more of a pain than anything else. You can try explaining that he gets to use a grown up seat belt on the plane and make it sound special. Make sure you bring a portable DVD player with his fav movies, a coloring book and a few small special toys. It's going to be hard to entertain a two year old for 18 hours regardless but he'll probably sleep for a good portion of it. If he has a tendancy to get carsick then I HIGHLY recommend that you get some dramamine - it's motion sickness medication and it can be given to children 2 years and older - they actually have a childrens liquid. One side effect of this medication is drowsiness so it could actually help both of you get adjusted to your new timezone.
