When did you start growing facial hair?

When did you start growing your daughter's hair out?

  • My daughter was born with a ton of hair and it never fell out like everyone predicted. By the time she was four months old it was in her eyes and she got her first haircut. Ever since then she goes every couple months and I have it cut into a pixie cut with banks, longer sides and shorter back. It's low maintence, keeps out of her face and is easy to maintain since she hates having her hair washed. She is now one. My mom kept my hair short through childhood and I remember hating it. My husband also wants to let her hair grow out. But my feeling is she is one and I am not eager to start having to do maintence on a long-haired toddler (and it will be down to her shoulders in no time, it grows like a weed). So what age were your girls before you let the hair grow out. And is it more reasonable to keep it cut short and well-maintained or just let it grow since she is a girl and that is what everyone seems to do?

  • Answer:

My daughter's 4.5 and hasn't had any hair cut, any trim, at all. Not _that_ hard; don't over-shampoo, use a good conditioner and a detangling spray, try braids... But, wait until she's a little older and ask what she wants to do. She may be happy with short hair; stay the course if yes. I haven't had my daughter's hair cut because she doesn't want it cut.

My daughter was born bald and just got her 1st haircut last weekend (she's now 2 1/2 years). It was several inches below her shoulders and is now cut into a bob. I'll probably let her decide from here on out how long her hair should be, as long as she keeps letting me maintain it.

I'm not a momma yet, but my mom often tells me about my hair. She let it grow out for all of my childhood, with only the occasional trim. I had shoulder-length curls before I turned 2, and by the time I was 4, I had mid-length braids, and it was down to my butt at age 7, and stayed that long until I got my first proper cut at 12 (to mid-length). I've always loved my hair, and I can't imagine having it short. It's so worth it because it looks gorgeous. I highly recommend you grow your girl's hair out. It will look gorgeous! You will have to be prepared for haircare though, but it's not that much of a bother. If she has straight hair, it'll be pretty easy, if it's curly, be prepared for weekly conditions and detangles. Her hair will be much more manageable if you put it in braids though, which look really pretty and aren't too hard to do. Have a look at http://www.cutegirlshairstyles.com/ and other blogs and youtube channels for really cute, easy hairstyles for your daughter. Good luck!

I've never cut my girls hair. She has waist length hair with curls on the ends (about 3 inches of curl) I will cut it if it get in the way of the potty because that is gross but otherwise it's staying long. She is 3. Short hair can be so cute too though. It's all about your child's features. We just side part her hair and their is NO maintaince beside combing it and braiding it or whatever. Good luck.

I let my daughter's hair grow out since she was born. I get it trimmed every once in a while and her family cuts her bangs for her. When she was a baby we pulled her bangs back in a clip until she started taking it out so we started cutting them. It's not hard to keep a toddler's hair nice. If it gets tangled just put a detangling spray in it. I sometimes put a braid in Lilly's when it is wet so she has a wave to it. Or I pull it back in pig tails or a pony tail. If I distract her with a book or something she behaves while I do it.

Wait til it's not a pain to keep it under control. I kept my girls hair long until they were 2. I loved their hair but it was such a pain. Wait til she is 2 or 3 to let it grow out.

I started my daughter's hair growing on day one. She's 8 now and it's down to her butt. I've never had any issue taking care of her hair and she lets me wash it, brush it, etc. I got lucky, she could just as easily been a kid that didn't want her hair messed with. If your husband wants to grow your daughter's hair long, then suggest that he may take care of it as it grows. Until he is willing to do that, explain to him that her hair and it's style will be up to you.

My first daughter had hair like that. She had her first haircut at 6 months, and by 12 months we could braid it! We started growing it out right away, but kept it trimmed. By around 16 months, we started growing her bangs out, we put them in a clip to the side. She was pretty good about putting it up and keeping clips in it. My second was born bald, and remained bald until she was 2. She'll be 3 in June and has kinda long hair. She refuses to wear a clip, she refuses to let me brush it, and will occasionally let me put elastics in it. I'm only hoping that as she gets older, she will be more willing to have stuff done with it. Otherwise I will keep hers short too.
