Is there a special cable for audio optical jacks?

Phone and cable jacks? What's the best thing to baby proof them?

  • Just moved into and older apt that has cable and phone jacks on all the walls practically. My little one insists on putting fingers in phone jacks and pulling on the cable jacks or mouth. He has a couple behind his crib now (it's the only wall I can place his crib on) and so I don't want him playing with them when he wakes up. I moved the crib back against the wall so he won't play with them but he got his leg stuck in between the slats/wall last night so I need to pull it forward again. Any thoughts on what can keep him away from these enticing dangers? I also have the same problem in our living room.

  • Answer:

I would ask the landlord/manager if you could get some plain wall plates installed for the ones you aren't using. Explain to them that it is a safety issue and they should understand. I doubt they want a lawsuit... especially if you bring it to their attention and they don't comply. We have most, if not all, of ours blocked by furniture of some sort.

best thing to do is to leave them be, when the kid sticks his finger in an electrical outlet, they quickly learn never to touch them again.
