Why would my fetal age be further back then the conception estimate?
-
I've used about 12 different online pregnancy calculators and they ask me for the LMP. I enter 8/26/08 and they keep giving me a fetal age estimate of 5 weeks and 6 days. That would fall on 8/19/08. Wouldn't that be before the LMP? Isn't the fetal age the date that the baby literally started growing? Somebody please explain. This is very confusin. Does this mean the baby has actually been growing since 8/10/08? Conception estimate is also 9/9/08.

Answer:
Pregnancy is calculated from the first day of your last period so your already around two weeks pregnant before you have even conceived. I know this is very strange.

I don't understand that either. The conception date should be about 2 weeks after the first day of your LMP.
To figure your due date, take the first day of your last period, subtract three months and add 7 days. If your last period was on 8/10/08, you would go to May 10, 2009 and add 7 days so due date would be May 17, 2009. I don't totally under your question but hope this helps.
pregnancy is 40 weeks long and goes by the 1st day of your last period even though you don't conceive till about 2 weeks later so that's why it comes up that your just over 5 weeks pregnant
