Is it likely that I'm pregnant?
-
3 weeks ago I caught the flu from a co-worker. It was a pretty standard flu, but after all my other symptoms went away, I was still throwing up a lot every few days. I went to the doctor, they said I may be pregnant but I didn't have money to test there (in between health insurance companies this month) so they gave me medicine for nausea. I took a home pregnancy test, it was negative. Two weeks later (up til now) I'm still spending every 2-3 days throwing up a lot. I'll have two days perfectly fine (eating normal, good energy, feeling great), then one day where I wake up early throwing up and continue to be sick all day with vomiting, spiked fevers, diarrhea, and a sore throat. Over and over and over... I've been eating healthy and drinking water and taking vitamins every day. So I went back to the doctor today and she said she still thinks I may be pregnant, so I agreed to do a full blood work (and paid $139 for the visit, yay American health care...). But they are doing all my blood work together so won't have any results for 3-5 days. I'm nervous, and wondering just how likely it is that I'm pregnant. I'm 21, healthy, and in a steady relationship, so it wouldn't be a bad thing (part of me is kinda excited, though I know this timing isn't ideal). It all seems to fit (I've even gained some weight too, but I attributed that to me getting older and metabolism maybe slowing down) except that I get full on flu-like symptoms when I have my sick days. Anyone know what else could be causing this? Yesterday I couldn't get out of bed except to get sick, today I feel perfectly fine. Tomorrow I could go either way, it's been 3 weeks now. And if anyone has these type of symptoms during pregnancy or anything else, please share... I know I won't know for sure for 3-5 days but I'm just wondering what my chances are. Thanks so much for the help. In the meantime, I know, no caffeine or alcohol, grrr... Hehe.

I would say you have a pretty good chance but because it comes with having a sore throat etc. it could just be a virus. I would say 50 50 chance. Have you missed a period? If not I would say you aren't pregnant. Good luck!
Did you take antiiotics when you were sick? Because antibiotics make the pill ineffective, so you might have become pregnant then. Good luck, hope everything works out!
