Where in Philadelphia can I go to be unskilled labor?

Doctor will not induce because of previous c-section. Told me either go into labor naturally or Csection. HELP?

  • I had a csection with my first. Trying for a vbac this time. I'm 2 and 1/2 dilated and 70 effaced, but my cervix is still very high. He told me he would not induce me because it takes too long and the labor would put too much pressure on my c-section scar and would be too dangerous, so either I go into labor naturally before the 11th of November, or they are going to schedule a c-section. PLEASE help me find ways to go into labor so that I don't have to have another c-section. Have been trying sex and walking, but no labor =( I'm desperate, really not wanting another c-section! Thanks!

I am also attempting a VBAC this time around, and have also been told I can't be given pitocin due to my prior c-section. Unfortunately, this is just one of the down sides of attempting VBAC, you have to wait for labour to occur naturally. There isn't anything you really can do, as I too am so desperate to avoid another c-section, I've read every single source on every silly old wives theory, and others, and to me it's just not worth eating 7 fresh pineapples, having sex every 20 minutes, tweaking your nipples every minute, all while walking and squatting. Baby really does come when he is ready...here is hoping it is before the 11th for you.

There are several things that people can suggest, but really, nothing is going to work unless the baby is ready to come. I understand how you feel, I am desperate to avoid a c-section as well. But we don't always get what we want. Sorry.

My 6th pregnancy and my 4th vbac, my dr stripped my membranes at 38 wks( gestational diabetes), the attending dr did start pitocin, which wasn't working! I only progressed after she placed a probe on my son's head, thus breaking my water. I never heard of such thing in your case. I had 2 csections and 4 vbacs and the only time I was told c section was w # 6 because I couldn't go past 39 wks and my ob kept saying inducing w pitocin could be risky, even though I had 2 others w pitocin. My cervix was high too until my ob stripped my membranes. You should try to come half way with your dr. Ask him why he cannot strip your membranes, use an internal monitor during labor and give you a chance. Also I don't know what hospital you are using, but please tell your dr about me. I had 2 c sections .1 in 1988 and in 1991. My vbacs were in , 1994, 2003, 05 and 08. Each 1 had a medical issue. My 3rd vbac I had excessive amniotic fluid and in 08 i was gestational diabetic. Each 1 was a success. My email is; [email protected]. Vbac is safer than a repeat section. I wish you luck.
