Swelling in pregnancy?
-
i am 31 weeks pregnant and over the last few weeks have had swelling in hands and feet which kinda went down a bit but over the last couple of days its really noticeable in my feet, i have had no other symptoms and i have read that the more u drink the more swelling u will get, i do drink quite a lot but its mainly water or sugar free diluting juice. is this normal or should i worry or cut down on drinking? how can i help this, like cold water or? i have tried putting my feet up to help with circulation but doesnt seem to help, i havent been walking about lots and its not warm?

Answer:
This is a normal part of 3rd trimester pregnancy and as long as your blood pressure is in normal range and there is no protein in your urine there is nothing to be too concerned about. I am having the same issue. You should drink more water not less, drinking more helps your body regulate it's fluid better and hold less water. You can also try having your partner rub your feet have him rub them towards the ankle for a bit then the other way, rub down towards the toes... doing this for a few minutes in both directions helps disperse the fluids. Unfortunately this is just "one of those things" sometimes that we have to just deal with.

Whoa, who told you that?! My doc said if you are swelling to drink MORE water, eat less salt and keep your feet up. Also be sure to let them know you are swelling so they can monitor your blood pressure. I have had swelled feet for the last month...it's not fun. Good luck! :)

This is all part of being in the 3rd trimester. :-) Actually, the best thing to do is drink MORE water, not less, and cut back your salt intake. Otherwise just rest with your feet up when you can and get some bigger, looser shoes. :-) Good luck!

This is all part of being pregnant. If it gets real bad then you need to call your doctor but swelling in pregnancy is normal and you sound like you are doing what you can to make it a little better.

Its normal for everything to swell like that. The only thing that I could suggest is prop your feet up. Take a pillow when you get into bed at night and put your feet up then too. For me that helped alot as well.

you may want to talk to your dr. about it. It could be just swelling from the pregnancy and it will eventually go away. Its all probably water. Ironically drinking lots of water helps with the swelling. If the swelling is excessive it could be a sign of preeclampsia to talk to ur dr.

Fluid retention and swelling are both common and normal in late pregnancy. It won't help by drinking any less. You drink the fluids that you need and continue resting. If you get significant swelling in your face and blurry vision, that's when you need to see your doctor.
