How to know if your ingrown toenail is getting better?

• I've never had a ingrown toenail until I was pregnant. I got a small one in my second trimester that my dad cut out for me. Now I'm 32 weeks pregnant with another ingrown toenail. He tried cutting it out again last weekend but it still irritating me four days later and it usually goes away by the next day. It kinda hurts and it irritating when I wear shoes but it's starting to get cold outside so I don't want to wear sandals now. Today I stuck a cotton swab under my nail to try to keep it from digging into my skin. I'm wondering if there is anything I can buy from the drug store to keep it from growing into my skin or what else I can do to take care of it. I see my doctor next week to check up on the baby. I don't know if this is something I can bring up to her about. Do I just keep getting them because my nail grow out faster now that I'm pregnant?

  Hi Hun, the same thing happened to me when my daughter was 3 months old. The ingrown toe nails are the result of your weight gain. I went to the podiatrist and had to get 3 toe nails nearly cut off completely! It was sooooo painful! He also gave me an oral prescription and a topical cream because mine got infected. I suggest you go to a podiatrist and get them checked out. You don't want to catch an infection especially while youre pregnant.
