Some girl copied my babysitting ad. What should I do?
-
I posted a wonderfully written babysitting ad where my friend and I babysit together as a duo. We have many, many references and we put so many details, and a picture. we have gotten many replies from this ad. Well, this girl posted a puny one before with her friend. Then, she took our post and basically copy and pasted it, and then she just made it into her words. Except this time she is babysitting with her boyfriend. What would you do? I am very upset that she copied us. Same wordings, same availability.. Etc. Should I email her?

Answer:
Did you have a legal copyright to this ad? Let it go, it's not a big deal. Spit happens. Consider it a compliment, if it helps. She was so impressed by your writing skills she couldn't think anybetter than to copy. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying, sometimes you have to let things go. Making a fuss isn't going to change anything.

It doesn't matter - once parents find out she's babysitting with her boyfriend, they'll be on the phone to you.
I just ignore it. since who`s gonna get a copywright for a babysitters ad? it just won`t happen. anyway I think most your cutomers know your ad by heart.
You should stop spamming and asking this question. :)
Sue her unless u didnt make ur ad copyrighted EDIT: no the person above me is like 100% wrong u cant let it go u made it and u should sue this lady
Yes...tell her to take it down, because she can get sued for using someone elses design. That's plagarism. Tell her you will sue her if she dosent take it down. Following through on that threat probably wouldent be worth your time, but...
I would email her and ask her to take down the ad. You don't need an official copyright to have the rights to any written content; it just helps clarify who does if there should ever be a dispute. If you wrote it, it's your "intellectual property." That being said, there isn't much you can do about it. It would be ridiculous to take her to court. Just tell her that you saw that she copied your material and that you would appreciate it if she would design her own ad. If that doesn't work, you can always reword your ad to say something like "We are the original, authentic [name of your team]. Do not be fooled by copycat posts..."
