Should I not get my sister's kids anything for easter?

I would let my sister know that I understand her not wanting to start anything. But I am watching my budget and can't afford to go out and buy a bunch of new Easter stuff to replace what I stocked up on last year. Then I would get my 5 kids something nice and get something small for my sister's kids. After all, the kids didn't do anything wrong here. Did they? ... I'd just get them something small from the dollar store. Maybe look for a set of small, cheap plastic bowls, tie a ribon around them, add a small amount of Easter grass, and put in 3-5 candy filled eggs each. I don't know how many kids she has. But if you go with that plan - I bet you could cover 4 or 5 kids for $10. A little more and you can probably add a cheap stuffed bunny in each bowl/basket. ... If you are in some kind of financial trouble and can't afford the $10, don't worry about it. Get them what you can or just remember to tell them Happy Easter.

To be honest, I'd try and mend the relationship. All that stuff is exactly that...just stuff. Family is family. I suppose though that if you aren't even talking to each other you don't need to buy anything for the other kids. Shame though that the kids are going to get left out because the adults can't play nice...

neither one of you are wrong, but i wouldnt re-buy stuff if she could possibly get it back. just ask her to ask your cousin next time she's there - that's really not getting in the middle, it's for her kids.

I don't understand why you would store things for your children at someone else's house- much less a year in advance for the holiday it is intended for. She may not even have the stuff anymore or may have all ready let her kids have it all last year when it was bought thinking it was intended for her kids. I think I would accept the fact it was a bad decision to do, cut your loss and just redo baskets for your children. If you don't even have a phone number or anything then it was probably done by her design and there is no sense at this point adding fuel on the fire if you know what I mean.

You asked a favor of holding some gifts to children(!) and now she is refusing to return them. I would take her to small claims court or file a police report. The only problem i see is that you don't know where she lives. If it doesn't work out, just leave it. Chalk it up for experience. Cut your losses. You can still buy some token gifts to your children, nieces and nephews. Happy Easter! When is Easter this year? We are still in February.....
