What does a parent have to do to get their 16 yr. old child emancipated in Texas?

    They would have to prove they were completely able to take care of them self's financially and still be doing well in HS. Even then its a long process. Good luck.

Pay out two years rent on a place for the 16 year old to live on their own. You are responsible to feed, clothe and provide a home for your child until 18 years of age.

The child would have to prove that she/he is financially independent from the parents. Another way is to get married or join the military. If you think of getting your child emancipated just so you won't have to pay child support, forget it. The child has to voluntarily request to become emancipated.
